Financial Transparency

As a state agency, ECMC is dedicated to financial transparency. 

Unlike other state agencies that are funded by taxpayer dollars, ECMC is funded largely by operator fees. The state legislature sets fees and ECMC is responsible for collecting those fees. Every oil and gas operator in Colorado must pay fees or they become ineligible to operator in Colorado. 

ECMC's budget is approved annually by the Joint Budget Committee (JBC). The JBC provides non-partisan research, analysis, and recommendations related to the state budget to members of the Joint Budget Committee and to the General Assembly.
