ECMC regulates the exploration and production (E&P) sector of the oil and gas industry in a manner that is protective of public health, safety, welfare, wildlife and the environment. ECMC’s regulations cover the lifecycle of the E&P phase including exploration, permitting, drilling and well construction, production, well maintenance and integrity, environmental monitoring, well abandonment, and land restoration.
The oil and natural gas molecules produced in Colorado are among the cleanest in the world. Colorado’s rigorous regulatory framework and environmental rules are among the toughest in the country meanwhile Colorado ranks among the top 10 states in total energy production.
