Cumulative Impact Plain Language Summaries
When an operator seeks to develop a mineral in Colorado, the operator must successfully obtain permits from assorted local and state agencies. In particular, the operator must submit an Oil and Gas Development Plan (OGDP) to the ECMC. That application (via our Form 2, Form 2A, and Form 2B) is publicly available via our COGIS database, but it is quite lengthy and includes a lot of technical information.
To make the application more accessible to community members, ECMC requires that operators provide a short, 'plain language' summary: rules 315.a.(7) & 315.b.(4) require a Plain Language Summary for the Form 2B and the Cumulative Impacts Analysis (respectively).
The Plain Language Summary features the following:
- discusses impacts in real-world terms;
- avoids jargon and abbreviations;
- includes list or tables to summarize complex information; and
- includes pictures, maps and figures.
