ECMC wants to hear from disproportionately impacted communities on cumulative impacts
Denver, CO (Dec. 11, 2023) - The Colorado Energy and Carbon Management Commission (ECMC) will host a virtual listening session on Dec. 19, focused on the issue of cumulative impacts. This session aims to engage disproportionately impacted communities before the ECMC’s formal rulemaking process begins.
Since 2019, ECMC has been engaging in conversations on how to address and evaluate the multiple impacts that residents can experience when there are oil and gas operations in their communities. In 2022, the ECMC Commission decided it was time to undertake a rulemaking to update the initial cumulative impacts work started in 2019. And in 2023, the Colorado legislature gave ECMC further direction on what it should consider when it holds its rulemaking hearing on cumulative impacts.
