Denver, CO (Nov. 27, 2023) - The Colorado Energy and Carbon Management Commission (ECMC) is hosting a series of listening sessions focused on the issue of cumulative impacts in your community. These sessions aim to engage disproportionately impacted communities before the ECMC’s formal rule making process begins.
Since 2019, ECMC has been engaging in conversations on how to address and evaluate the multiple impacts that residents can experience when there are oil and gas operations in their communities. In 2022, the ECMC Commission decided it was time to undertake a rulemaking to update the initial cumulative impacts work started in 2019. And in 2023, the Colorado legislature gave ECMC further direction on what it should consider when it holds its rulemaking hearing on cumulative impacts.
